Khokana, an ancient Newari village is in Lalitpur district. It is just 7-8 km away from Kathmandu. This village has its own culture. The community consists of the Newars in high amount who earn their livelihood from agriculture. The men working on the field are busy crushing seed. This village is famous for its temples, the temple in this area is known to the mother goddess, Shikali Mai. Bungamati is the home of the temple Machhindranath which is known as the patron of the valley. The Karya Binayak Temple is one of the most important temples in Nepal and is dedicated to Ganesha. The view is breathtaking from the temple as it is surrounded by trees and large bamboos being in the base of high hills.

The first destination is Bungamati which is a very wonder place. This drive will be one of the best drives you will ever have. First 10 to 15 minutes will be dusty but then you will love the drive. Looking at the scenic beauty of the hills and the farming done beside the roads anyone will be stunned.We walk through the villages of Takum and Sibang. After Sibang, We reach a picturesque village called Mattim after ascend. We follow the trail from Muna to Jaljala La (3390m.) passing Lumsum (2100m.) and Moreni (2670m.). To reach Lumsum we make a steep climb, through oak and rhododendron forests with the views of many Himalayan peaks like Dhaulagiri, Manaslu and other peaks. wonderful time visiting all the gompas and Chorten in Tarap valley we take a trail that climbs up through grassy meadows full of wildflowers till we reach to Numala base camp. From the base camp, we get a beautiful view of the distant Tibetan mountains and the upper Tarap valley. Today the trail ascends and passing Ghuchi Lagna Pass (3480m) reaches to Jhyari. After crossing Jhyari we will further walk to Rara Lakeside area to build our camp for overnight stay. Rara is the biggest lake of Nepal that gives relief with its magnificent look. The lake is surrounded by forest and different kinds of flowers can be seen by the side. People can cycle around the lake. Boating facilities are also available. There is a hotel by the side but camping is also available. The lake conserved as a National Park. Different animals are also found here.
